Premier: "It's absolutely heart-wrenching to see people’s lives uprooted like this.”

The Premier visited the community of Dunrobin today to see the damage of Friday’s destructive tornado and to thank personally the first responders who are serving through the emergency. Merrilee Fullerton, local MPP for Kanata-Carleton, was pleased the Premier pledged support of the Province to help rebuild the businesses and residences that were destroyed.

“The Premier told us that he and the Province will help with the clean up and help to rebuild our community,” said Merrilee Fullerton, MPP. “This is an extremely difficult time for families and friends in Dunrobin. But I have seen on Friday night, and through the weekend, the true strength of our community. This strength is seen with the kindness and support we provide one another and the quiet determination with which we face the realities of the aftermath of the storm.”

On Sunday, the Premier toured the devastation in Dunrobin. "It's absolutely heart-wrenching to see people’s lives uprooted like this. But this is a strong community. We're being briefed every few hours and it's devastating. A lot of us have never seen anything like it," said the Premier.

The Premier then spoke with the residents and thanked the first responders gathered at the West Carleton Secondary School. He stated: “We will spare no expense to get peoples’ lives back up and going. And I want to emphasize the great job our first responders have done, from the police and fire and EMS, what an incredible job.”
